Solidarity With Marie In North Carolina

A banner posted to the fence at the disputed CVS building that was squatted/occupied last year as a campaign of resisting corporate development; at the corner of Weaver St. and Greensboro St in Carrboro, NC on  Sunday January 27th.
This banner was posted the day after a local eco-prisoner letter writing night in celebration of Marie Mason’s birthday.

From her support page:

“January 26, 2012, is Marie Mason’s 51st birthday, which she is celebrating locked in a special control unit in the federal prison in Carswell, Texas. Marie is three years into her almost twenty-two year sentence.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I hold that the more helpless a creature the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of humankind.
— Mahatma Ghandi

We have doomed the wolf not for what it is but for what we deliberately and mistakenly perceive it to be: the mythologized epitome of a savage, ruthless killer — which is, in reality, not more than the reflected image of ourselves. We have made it the scapewolf for our own sins.
— Farley Mowat, from the preface of the 1993 edition of his book, Never Cry Wolf

Montana is a big and beautiful state in the Northern Rocky Mountains of the United States. But… during the past two years this big and beautiful state has allowed a small number of its citizens…

Sickening & Heartbreaking facts about animal cruelty that just may suprise you!

  1. Birds don’t belong in cages. Bored, lonely, denied the opportunity to fly, deprived of companionship.

     2.  Many birds become neurotic in cages – pulling out feathers, bobbing their heads incessantly, and repeatedly pecking

       3.  A Canadian Police study found that 70 percent of people arrested for animal cruelty had past records of other violent crimes.

  1. Alligators on farms may be beaten with hammers and axes, sometimes remaining conscious and in pain for 2 hours after skinning.

The movie the Hobbit should be boycotted for 27 animals being killed during the making of the film its an outrage!

Editor’s Note: Empty All Cages is highly disgusted with how these deaths were played down by all involved. First and foremost, computer generated animals are commonly used in successful movies. With 21st century technology, live animals in movies are nothing more than slaves. And no one in their right mind would house hooved animals among bluffs and sinkholes. Unbelievably, just prior to “The Hobbit” opening for next month, Peter Jackson denied that animals were killed in the making of the film- shamefully ignoring the issue that the slaves were killed being housed for the film.
(Pictures added to to show how these crimes might  look- they aren’t from the scene)

Doodle donkey is finally safe from her rapist! Because of all of her supporters around the world (you!) and all the dedication to her wellbeing, Doodle has a great new life- out of Marion County/Ocala FL. Thank you so much to everyone who let Doodle into their hearts! Because of the constant pressure we put on Marion County/Ocala, FL and their animal shelter, Doodle’s story remained public and current. Her petition to go to sanctuary reached over 6300 signatures, from around the world,  from September 2012 through December 2012.

Our little girl didn’t make it to a sanctuary and she was sold. The sale was likely scrutinized by the court and the animal shelter. THEY HAD TO DO SO BECAUSE WE GAVE DOODLE A VOICE so she would be safe! Doodle is now in the next best place- a large home with lots of space with a private owner…
